Client: Sport Relief
Event: Davina – Beyond Breaking Point
Brief: Long term supporter of Comic Relief and an individual unafraid of pushing herself, it was no surprise when Davina McCall was asked to step up to the 2014 Sport Relief challenge. This mid-Winter test was to be an immense 500 mile, 7-day triathlon from Edinburgh to London, that included a one mile swim across Lake Windermere and a treacherous climb up Scafell Pike along the way. Sport Relief brought us in to deliver the logistics for the challenge and ensure Davina was kept safe, on the correct route and moving successfully towards the finish line.
Response: Working with experts in each of the triathlon disciplines, we devised a detailed logistics plan to include the route, activity schedule and stopping points along the way. We worked closely with local authorities to ensure that all relevant permissions were cleared to accommodate not only the event team but the safe management of the anticipated crowds of supporters.
Results: The live event and Davina experienced some of the worst weather Britain has ever seen. Nevertheless, we reacted quickly to all the challenges and frequent route changes this threw up until the point that we delivered Davina safely into Central London to the rapturous applause of the waiting crowds.
- Raised just under £2.5 million for Sport Relief
- Stephen Meadows, Senior Executive at Sport Relief commented: ”Threshold managed Davina’s challenge to the very highest standards. Their logistical expertise and attention to detail was crucial and their calm and professional response to any challenges that arose was impressive to see.”
