Event: Big Bold Challenge
Brief: The third annual Big Bold Challenge needed to be bolder than ever before. Multiple business objectives meant exploring new event formats. Nationwide access and as always, a fundraising worthy challenge was top of the wish list.
Response: Our team created the Big Bold Triathlon Series, ticking off all the boxes.
Multisport: With 18 events, employees could choose Olympic or sprint distances, or single triathlon elements – stand up paddling boarding was an option too
Accessible: A North and South triathlon were created to integrate the 6 main Hub sites – participants could choose the location and date that suited them. We also laid on participant and bike transport services from the Hubs for hassle-free travel to the event. Volunteer and supporter roles were also available at sign up
Fundraising festival: An event village was introduced to create a festival feel and encourage fundraising. Volunteers and supporters brought the event village to life; from cheering squads to manning water stations. Additional activities such as a pledge wall, dragon boat racing, rollapaluza battles and a human table football kept employees engaged all day
Results: The event was blessed with amazing weather and both events saw people being bolder than ever. The results speak for themselves.

- Over £119,000 was raised
- Employees travelled from all 6 main Hub sites and retail stores nationwide
- 92% said they were more engaged with Vodafone thanks to the event (+7% from 2014)
- 93% said they felt proud to work for Vodafone as a result of the event
- 95% voted their overall Big Bold Challenge experience as 5/5
For me this event has a greater value in terms of fitness and motivation than the non core salary benefits Vodafone offers.
A great venue, fantastic organisation and excellent support from Vodafone made this a day to remember and makes you proud to work for a company that supports such things.
