Inspired by the Herculean effort of Davina McCall in her BT Sport Relief Challenge, Mack joined Cisco CEO and previous Deloitte Ride Across Britain participant Phil Smith for last weekend’s Leaderboard Challenge – a 6 mile run, 25 mile cycle and 1.5km swim in the fantastic London Olympic Park. Other participants included CEOs from Google, Orange, Sainsbury’s, Michael Page and Comic Relief, as well as ex-Olympians Roger Black and Steve Backley. Mack was supported by a number of colleagues and friends of Threshold who each took on a section of the triathlon for themselves, and in total the whole leaderboard group raised well over its £100,000 target.
Reflecting on the event, Mack said: “I was inspired to do the Sport Relief triathlon by Davina’s grit and determination on her Edinburgh to London challenge. It’s great to see busy industry leaders like Phil Smith, Dan Cobley and Steve Ingham finding time to get in shape and nail an arduous triathlon. It’s no coincidence these guys lead from the front in employee engagement/wellness and outperform their peers in business.”
Kevin Cahill, CEO of Comic Relief, said: “We are all thrilled at Sport Relief that 27 CEOs, under the banner of LeaderBoard, once again got behind our fundraising efforts. Their efforts at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park are to be applauded and celebrated. The money raised has helped contribute to our record breaking total of £53 million so far”
