Event: Deloitte Ride Across Britain

Brief: In 2012 Astra Zeneca was experiencing some organisational changes. In order to increase the company’s effectiveness and drive future success they needed a platform for their leaders to encourage bonding, a feeling of strength and working better as a team. Additionally, being a global company their leadership team were not based in the same country so there was equal need to get these individuals together, achieving something away from the boardroom which could have the option to raise money for a Romanian youth charity close to the company’s heart.

Response: Astra Zeneca took 12 of their leadership team from across Eastern Europe on the 9 days of Deloitte Ride Across Britain. This challenge was completely new and unfamiliar to almost all of the team. Threshold stepped in with  pre-event support for the team in the form of designing team kit, planning transport to get riders and their bikes to the UK, setting virtual team training challenges and having regular webinar sessions together.

Results: The Ride was a resounding success for all of the team, thoroughly enjoying the experience from start to finish. Key leaders within the team agreed that it was the perfect challenge to re-bond their team and energise them for the hard work within the company ahead. At the same time thousands were also raised for their designated charity making the challenge a worthwhile employee engagement and fundraising orientated investment.
