Event: Deloitte RAB Partnership

Brief: DHL’s number one priority is safety. Over the past five  years significant improvements and investment has been made to their vehicle fleet and driver training programme. New technologies are reviewed and deployed where appropriate, supporting drivers and making vehicles safer. DHL wanted to demonstrate their logistical expertise and promote their understanding of safety to other road users, such as cyclists.

Response: Deloitte Ride Across Britain created the perfect platform for DHL to meet all their objectives, as well as supporting employee engagement and fundraising too. DHL became the Official Freight Transportation Partner to the Ride and their primary responsibility was to safely transport event equipment such as tents and luggage from site to site to keep a smooth running event.  25 drivers were handpicked to be part of the driver team and over 50 customers and employees took part in the challenge to raise money for the road safety charities Brake and the British Heart Foundation.

Results: Threshold felt that DHL provided an excellent service on the movement of equipment and luggage. The safety sessions worked well in base camps and the DHL area in the sponsor village was the perfect place for riders to meet, talk about their day and engage with each other. The riders on the challenge raised over £30,000 for the two chosen charities and all thoroughly enjoyed their experiences. And DHL is delighted to announce its involvement in the 2015 Deloitte RAB event.
