Diageo: The Talisker Coastal Challenge

An accessible event with a competitive edge

Diageo plc is a British multinational alcoholic beverages company, with its headquarters in London, England and offices in six continents.

The aim for the delivery of The Talisker Coastal challenge was to deliver a more inclusive event but with a competitive element

What did Threshold recommend?

Threshold recommended a walking event through the Jurassic Coast included 2 nights camping and a volunteering opportunity supporting local projects. The walking route offered 3 disciplines for all abilities.

  • Full Marathon distance
  • Shorter 30KM distance
  • Marathon+ including orienteering challenge

Who took part?

  • 300 participants took part in 2019, 100 more than the previous year

How did we do?

The route, whilst challenging, offered people an opportunity to experience another part of the country with their colleagues. The competition element definitely added a great twist with more expressing interest in being able to win prizes.

The Pit Stops & Splash and Dash locations added a welcoming touch, as did the on the route support from volunteers at their cheer spots.

  • 91% of participants would take part again
  • 88% of participants rated their overall experience as ‘Very Good’ or higher
  • 100% of participants said it was a valuable experience as a Diageo employee.
