Nick is driven by Threshold’s simple purpose of supporting people to fulfil their potential. This extends from those taking on our events to the team he feels honoured to lead each day. He believes in going with your instinct (especially when backed up by data) and likes his cocktails like his fancy dress; high impact.

Penny Welch

CCO

Penny’s own drive and enthusiasm sets the benchmark for her Account Management team. Although she’d never tell you, she used to represent GB with an oar and she is one of those rare people who combines huge ambition with support and nurture for all those around her.

Tariq El Kashef

COO

Tariq heads up Threshold’s operations and oversees the delivery of our growing portfolio of amazing outdoor adventures. His background prior to Threshold had him leading expeditions and overland safaris on five continents and he has organised some of the UK’S largest and toughest endurance events.

Michael Holland

Senior Marketing Director

Michael leads the Threshold marketing team. Prior to joining us he was responsible for marketing at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham and promoted Major League Baseball in London, as well as holding senior roles in the leisure and entertainment sector.

Most mornings before work you’ll find him swimming at the Sea Lanes on Brighton beach.

Jenni Thompson

Senior Account Director

Jenni is blessed with a wonderful northern charm and understatement. She’s solid as a rock, instantly affable with everyone and will surprise you every now and then by casually dropping in the news that she’s doing an Ironman or similar. As you do.

The OG of the Client Event team, she’s nurtured an impressive roster of brands to achieve their staff engagement and fundraising objectives. To mention but a few; Macmillan Cancer Support, Virgin Active, NatWest, Vodafone and Barclays.

Louise Cornforth

Senior Event Director – Client Events

Louise is our Event Director for Client Events. She comes with a wealth of knowledge of sporting events in the charity sector. In her spare time Louise likes to keep fit, compete in the muddiest events and discover new amazing parts of the world.

Richard Parr

Senior Event Director

Richard is our Event Director for the Threshold Trail Series, looking after all things operational to make the events run smoothly. A keen runner and cyclist, you’ll often find him out on the roads and trails, usually hunting for cake.

With more than 500 events under his belt as an organiser or runner, he champions event experiences for everyone and isn’t too proud to admit getting emotional watching special moments at finish lines.

Alex Sawbridge

Sales Director 

Alex heads up the new business team, overseeing new commercial opportunities, including event partners, teams and client events.

As a previous Threshold participant, Alex can talk to you until he’s blue in the face about why partnering with or participating in our events will be the best decision you’ll ever make.

Outside of work, Alex can usually be found running along the seafront,
exploring the South Downs Way or hunting out a good coffee or cask ale in The Lanes (not hard).

Jenny Ainsworth

Event Director

Having spent most of her career managing charity sporting events, Jenny joins us in the operations team working on client events. When not on an event site (her favourite place to be) Jenny loves anything outdoors- from paddle boarding to netball to tennis. Fuelled by chocolate and living for sunshine Jenny can’t help but organise her days when outside of the office, even making running orders used as holiday itinerary’s – no, really!

Hayley Browning

Partnership Director

Hayley is our Partnership Director and is known for her love of adventure, whether it’s paddleboarding, hiking, wild camping, hanging out in her hammock, fine-tuning her woodland skills, or sitting around a campfire.

Hayley has worked in charity-corporate partnerships for over 10 years and in her spare time is an Outdoor Leader and SUP Coach and adores making new connections with people who are the happiest outdoors

Tom Coussens

Senior Account Manager

Tom is the newest member of the Client Events team with a strong background in events and online fundraising through his time with the London Marathon and JustGiving.

Having spent much of his 20s taking on challenges at home and abroad he is a huge advocate of getting out of your comfort zone, whether that be tackling mountains, jungles or racking up miles on the road. In his spare time, you will find Tom scrambling around Snowdonia, out in his campervan, or on walks with his dog Dustin.

Neil Watson

Sales Manager

Neil, a previous Threshold Participant, works alongside Alex and Jack in the new business team. Focusing on securing new sponsors, partnerships and driving corporate team participation. Outside of the office you can find Neil running on trails in and around Brighton. Walking his beloved dog Nedd, or following Swansea City, the biggest team in Wales!

Ed Scott

Marketing Manager

Born and raised in sunny Watford, Ed has held down marketing roles in a number of different industries, specialising in content and content strategy.

Ed is extremely excited to join Threshold and combine his professional marketing experience with his passion for ultrarunning and bicycle tourism. When he’s not out suffering in the hills and questioning his life choices, Ed enjoys walking his dog Harry and spending too much money on coffee.

Jay Kirton

Office Manager

Jay brings a positive attitude and a can-do spirit, she’s always ready to jump in and help. In her spare time, she enjoys walks along the seafront and runs a social group called Hove Sea Gals, which brings residents of the local area together to try new things.

She has also set herself a goal to brave winter sea swimming. With her upbeat personality and dedication to getting things done, she’s the perfect office manager for our busy team

David Sommerville

Associate Event Manager

Dave works in our Operations team leading on our Threshold Trail Series during the summer, he’s also one of the team leading on the planning of our prestigious Ride Across Britain in September. Outside of work Dave enjoys getting outdoors and playing beach tennis and touch rugby in Preston Park. Living by the sea allows paddleboarding and sea bobbing during his lunch breaks with fellow thresholdians!

Liz Sutton

Crew & Volunteer Manager

After several years working in education management, Liz joins the operations team as our Crew and Volunteer manager. Coming from a sports science background she has a love of keeping fit and can often be seen donning a pair of boxing gloves, taking part in a HIIT class or running along the seafront.

With a passion for working with people, Liz is a naturally sociable person. She is excited to be back in Brighton, making the most of being by the sea and the many food venues within walking distance from the office!

Georgia Anderson

Associate Account Manager

Georgia is a self-confessed adventurer & sport enthusiast, pizza lover & espresso martini expert. Her natural habitat is the outdoors, whether it’s long distance walking, jumping out of aeroplanes or caving underground – she’ll try her hand at anything! She joins the team as an Account Executive to combine her passion of both people & sport.

Sophie Aldrich

Senior Account Executive 

Sophie is part of the Account Management Team, working on all things Client Events, with a passion for sports and an enthusiastic approach to any challenge. With a love for the sea, she is a keen surfer, and when the waves are flat, she swaps the wetsuit boots for trainers as an equally keen runner, enjoying anything outdoors, especially in the sun!

Brooke Palmer

Partner Marketing Executive

After a successful placement year at Threshold Brooke has re-joined the team as a full-time employee. She is now putting her passion for sports events management to the test and has made herself a valued member of the team. Outside of work you’ll find her either whizzing around a table tennis table, enjoying a cold pint with friends or eating her daily fix of popcorn.

Harry Shersby-Wignall

Participant Services Manager

Harry is a recent graduate from University of Birmingham. Having previously worked for Hawk-Eye and Brighton and Hove Albion FC. A keen runner and training for his first triathlon, which makes him extremely driven by the mission of helping people realise their potential.

Harry loves his football and is a big Birmingham City fan. Away from sport, Harry loves exploring new countries and cities, trying new food and also plays guitar and drums. If that isn’t enough he is also trying to learn French!

James Greveson Hickie

Associate Event Manager

James joins Threshold from the arts and cultural sector, bringing over a decade of events experience and many hundreds of km’s running around the South Downs.

He is a previous finisher of Race to the Stones as well as the SDW100, so knows what it takes to get our participants over the line. When not lacing up his shoes he enjoys cooking, going to gigs, chasing his toddler around various soft plays, and also converted a campervan during the pandemic.

Jasmine Iley

Event Executive

Following a successful placement year at Threshold, Jasmine has re-joined the team as a full-time member of the operations team, where she works on the Macmillan Mighty Hikes series. She is thrilled to be back in Brighton, near the sea, to use her new paddleboard! Beyond the office you can find her swimming in Sea Lanes (and the occasional lunch time sea bobbing) or pursuing a return to playing netball.

Olivia Atherton

Social Media Executive

Outside of work you will find Olivia with her head in a book, headphones on and a cup of coffee in hand. Growing up by the coast means she’s a lover of swimming in the sea, and is hoping to brave cold water swimming soon. An avid spin class goer, and always looking to try new things (mainly spin classes that involve Taylor Swift as the soundtrack).

Toby Dickens

Event Executive 

After graduating from Loughborough with a degree in geography and management, Toby wanted to focus on my deep passion for all things sport.

Enthusiastic about giving all sports a go, having competed in multiple sports from table tennis to mountain biking and cross country running! Growing up in the beautiful countryside of the Wye Valley has given him a love for all things outdoors – especially when there’s a fitness challenge involved!

His weekends are usually spent walking his dogs on the hills or out trail running.  Travel and adventure are also great interests of Toby’s, being fortunate enough to have visited many countries and he remains ambitious to get out and explore more of the world in the future!

Sylvia Longworth-Catt

Customer Service Administrator

Sylvia is Threshold’s Customer Service Administrator. She has a lifetime of doing her best to help others to fulfill the role and hopes to help each participant have the best experience possible.

She is a passionate runner, dedicated mother, lapsed equestrian, and adventurous foodie. She loves to travel and to combine her interests, with the most recent adventure being a husband-and-toddler supported 5-day run of the Tour du Mont Blanc.

Riitta Hänninen

Senior Events Director

Riitta has been working in events for most of her life, ranging from business events in Asia to desert ultramarathons around the most remote corners of the world. Originally from Finland, she loves the outdoors and spends much of her free time with sports.

In wintertime, Riitta organises Arctic experiences in her backyard in Lapland. Traveling the world, meeting cool people, and experiencing new things is her way of keeping things interesting. What motivates Riitta when things get busy? Organising sporting events is ultimately about enabling people to find their better selves.

Clemi Waterhouse

Marketing Placement Student

Clemi has joined the Marketing team as part of her uni placement year. She studies Sport and Exercise Science at Newcastle and loves all things sports related.

Clemi was a competitive swimmer for 10 years before choosing to focus on Lacrosse at uni. You’ll regularly find Clemi in the pub with her friends or watching the newest crime drama on TV.

Sharvani Sampat

Operations Placement Student

Sharvani has joined the Operations team as a part of her placement year. She is a student at Loughborough University studying BSc (Hons) Sports and Exercise Science.

Sports has always been one of her passions, whether it be sprinting on the track or playing badminton and football socially. Apart from sports, Sharvani enjoys taking part in the performing arts, being out in nature and is always open to trying new things spontaneously!

Sophie Southern

Operations Placement Student

Sophie is part of the Threshold Operations Team for a Placement Year from Loughborough University, where she is studying Sport Science.

Sophie’s main focus is the Public Events, in particular the Trail Series and Ride Across Britain. She has a passion for many sports particularly netball and rounders. Besides this, Sophie loves to travel, having had the chance to visit many countries, even experiencing Christmas in Australia. Being from Manchester she is enjoying Brighton, with the South’s warmer weather.

Jack Shorey

New Business Placement Student

Jack works within the New Business team with Alex and Neil, helping Threshold engage new businesses and charities across the public events portfolio.

He loves to travel with The Gambia being the top destination visited recently. Growing up in Devon formed his interest in water-sports specifically paddleboarding. He loves the Brighton atmosphere and spends his free-time surfing the coffee shops and pubs of the city!

Lily Goddard

Placement Student

Lily has joined the Account Management team at Threshold as a part of her placement year between studying Health and Exercise Science at the University of Bath. In her free time,

Lily enjoys running and completed the London Marathon for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust. As well as this, Lily writes blog posts for her university about student life, and loves spending time with friends, she is very excited to live near the sea in Brighton!

Julian Mack

Founder

Our founder Mack is the father of More Is In You and the driving force behind Threshold’s culture. His passion for what we do is immense and his balance between work, family and play is inspirational. This is more than can be said for his balance in his kayak.
